Our Approach

A trusted Auckland fabricator — built around certainty of product.

Black Steel Mobile Ltd has been operating for over 25 years as Auckland’s trusted specialists in structural steel beam fabrication for residential buildings and earthquake strengthening projects. We were purchased in 2020 by Managing Director Fatu Fuatavai — who holds university degrees in Science and Engineering and brings extensive experience across the engineering and building industries.

From our modern Hobsonville workshop we deploy a fleet of fully self-contained mobile workshops across the Greater Auckland region. Every project benefits from SFC Level 3 fabrication, current Site Safe passports across the team, and an International Welding Inspector (B) on staff.

Black Steel is affiliated with SCNZ, HERA, the Sustainable Steel Council and Amotai — signalling our commitment to quality, safety, sustainability and inclusive procurement.

“Quality and good value are at the core of everything we do.”

Fatu Fuatavai — Managing Director (company statement)

Save time

Steel is cut on-site and installed immediately — the installation is accurate and ready when your trade is.

Save money

Contractors don’t wait around for a truck and crane to arrive with pre-fabricated steel.

Save hassle

Many builders know the frustration of a vital steel component arriving cut wrong. We measure, cut and install on the job.

Save risk

SFC Level 3 fabrication delivers certainty of product and significantly reduced compliance risk for procurers.
